V02 Max testing, Cheshire

Discover the gold-standard measure of aerobic fitness with lab-grade technology used in elite sport.

What is VO2 max testing?

VO₂ Max testing is the gold standard benchmark for understanding cardiovascular fitness and endurance capacity. At The Injury & Performance Clinic, we help runners, cyclists, triathletes, and fitness enthusiasts uncover their true physical potential through precise, lab-grade testing.

Our state of the art testing process provides actionable insights that watches and online calculators simply can’t match. With your VO₂ Max score, thresholds, and training zones, you’ll know exactly how hard to push and when to hold back to optimise training adaptations, weight loss, reduce injury risk, and accurately monitor progress over time.

Whether you’re targeting a marathon PB, aiming to ride stronger, or simply want to improve your long-term health, VO₂ Max testing gives you the clarity and confidence to train smarter.

How our VO2 max testing works

VO₂ Max testing is designed to be straightforward, accurate, and practical giving you game changing data you can actually use

How it works:

  • Step 1 – Consultation: We’ll start by learning about your goals, sport, and current training so the test reflects what you need.

  • Step 2 – The Test: On either a treadmill or bike, you’ll complete a progressive exercise test while wearing a lightweight breathing mask and heart rate monitor. This measures exactly how much oxygen your body can use as the intensity builds. Our team monitors you throughout to keep the session safe and ensure high-quality results.

  • Step 3 – Results & Feedback: As soon as the test is finished, you’ll get a clear breakdown of your VO₂ Max, anaerobic threshold, and personalised heart rate zones and full report break down. We’ll explain what the numbers mean and how to apply them straight into your training.

What you’ll get out of it:

  • 🎯 Personalised training zones – know the exact paces and heart rates to train at for maximum results.

  • 💪 Performance insights – understand your cardiovascular strengths and where you can improve.

  • 🛡️ Injury prevention – train at the right intensity, avoiding overtraining and wasted miles.

  • 📈 Progress tracking – repeated testing allows you to measure your individual response to training stimulus over time, further optimising results

  • ❤️ Health benefits – VO₂ Max is a powerful predictor of long-term cardiovascular health and wellbeing.

Our VO2 Max testing doesn’t just give you numbers, it gives you the tools and confidence to train smarter, recover better, and reach your goals faster.

  • Sports performance profiling

    Sports performance profiling

Our Athlete Performance Profiling is a sports specific and comprehensive way to understand your body and unlock peak performance. Combining VO₂ max testing for aerobic capacity, Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) for fuelling and recovery, and VALD Force Decks strength and biomechanics analysis for power and injury risk, we connect the dots between endurance, strength, and metabolism. The result is a clear, data-driven roadmap that helps you train smarter, recover better, and perform at your best.

  • RMR testing cheshire

    Resting metabolic rate (RMR)

Know exactly how many calories your body burns at rest — no guesswork. Our RMR test uses indirect calorimetry (VO₂ Master) to measure oxygen use and CO₂ output, giving a precise daily energy baseline (kcal/day) plus insights into fuel use (fat vs carbohydrate via RER), breathing efficiency, resting heart rate, and HRV.

  • Strength testing cheshire

    Power and strength testing

Our ForcePlate & Dynamometry Testing with VALD technology provides precise insights into your strength, power, balance, and movement mechanics. By measuring asymmetries, force production, and control, we can identify weaknesses, reduce injury risk, and track progress over time. Whether you’re returning from injury or chasing peak performance, this data-driven approach takes the guesswork out of training and rehabilitation.
